Removed from Domain, now can't login

I made the mistake of switching my work PC from being on the Domain to not and now I can't login because I don't have a non-Domain account on the machine.

I tried using chntpw to set the Administrator password to blank but it didn't work/help and now the only account I see as an option to login is my Domain account, which doesn't work with any passwords I try, not to mention chntpw doesn't see that account as a valid user, so I can't try blanking it.

Any recommendations? The machine doesn't have a DVD drive, so even if I have a Win 7 disc handy, I'm not sure how I'm going to make use of it to do the trick with the command prompt (sethc.exe, etc.)

Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.

You need to contact the company IT staff. Only a member of the domain administrators group can join or rejoin a computer to the domain. This is by design. Without an admin level account or install or repair media there isn't really anything you can do to login to the computer. And even if you could do that you could not rejoin the domain.

I don't want to put it back on the domain. I'm just looking to be able to login, ideally as an admin.

You can't log into a domain unless your computer is a member of the domain.

I read LMiller7's post and i understand I can't get it back on the Domain without help. I was just hoping there was a way to login locally before I get it put back on the domain (which requires a domain admin's help)

I don't see any option other than contacting company IT staff. There are consequences to removing a computer from a domain. This is one of them.

If you do not know any of the local account passwords then you will either have to format the machine or do as others have suggested and take the PC back to the company and have the IT Staff create a local account for you.
