Removed heatsink from processor, do I need new thermal compound?

Radio Shack stocks Arctic Silver at almost all stores.

Try 3-in-1 oil. It is a brand available at Walmart etc. Sewing department if not automotive. Any brand of sewing machine oil.
One drop.

Good call on the radio shack! there is one literally right around the corner that I'm able to get at. They have the Artic Silver for 9.99 I'm going to go pick up some soon.

Whats the best way to clean off the old thermo paste?

They didnt have any 3 in 1 oil, but only Radio Shack branded Lubricant Spray. I probably dont want that do I?

You need to get oil do not use sprays as they wont work.

Ok, oil no spray and use iso to remove old paste.

Funny thing is since I shut my computer down last night & turned it on today, it hasnt made any noise at all? I guess I'll play it by ear & pick it up next time I'm at walmart just for the hell of it.

Any idea of the 3 in 1 oil name? I find it in the electronics?

Do no know American brands but just make sure that it is Light oil, no heavy general purpose oil.
Home Depot, Hardware/tool shops, sewing machine shops or departments .

3 in 1 oil automotive or hardware. I have long tube style on left. Have paper towels handy. Also you can apply with tootpick. Gives you a very small drop that isn't likely to make a mess. Might take several dips and dabs but no oily electronics that way.
Sewing machine oil. For oiling sewing machine parts. Find it by Fabrics.

Lots of people talk pea size drops of TIM. BB size more appropriate. Before and after pictures.

The example image below is of a few frozen peas beside a small BB size drop of OCZ Freeze TIM. The image beside it is of the same cooler two hours later after we completed testing. If there was ever any real advice that applies to every situation, it would be that thermal paste isn't meant to separate the two surfaces but rather fill the microscopic pits where metal to metal contact isn't possible....

Ok just picked up som 91% iso to clean the processor with and new tube or artic silver from radio shack.

How much if a drop of paste do I need? Just a pea size or something?

Nice, that helped out, thanks. The new compound is on and everything seems to be fine.

Any idea if I would know if it isnt enough? (Though I'm sure it is)

I still need to get a good temp gauge for CPU & video cards...

Not really anyway, some say you can pull it back up and look but really it will spread once pressure and heat are applied. I'm sure your just fine again less is more!
