A while ago I wanted to replace my printer with new one, same model, and after I installed the new one my Devices and Printers showed http://i.imgur.com/ZANFQ51.png where the red arrow points to the new printer.

I've since fixed the old printer and returned the new one but I can't get the new one out of my system. Every time I go to print something I've got a list I have to sort through to find the right printer: http://i.imgur.com/mAhVlu2.png

I've tried right-clicking the new printer in the Devices and Printers window and selecting "Remove device" but it keeps coming back, even if I immediately reboot after removing it.

How can I get rid of this printer?

Thanks

I would try uninstall all related software, the device from Device Manager and reboot.

Then I would check again.

Are you trying to remove the new printer with the old one actually connected. Try disconnecting the the old printer, then uninstall the new printer, from Programs & Features as suggested by georgeks & then see if you can then remove the new one.

If that works, reconnect the old printer & load up the necessary software if required.

Has what has been suggested worked??

Now just my two cents worth after using HP printers myself I have found left over registry entries even after uninstalling from the usual spots.

I agree with what everyone said. Definitely uninstall all related programs, check and delete any used ports and drivers from the old printer, use CCleaner to clean up items and start with a fresh install of drivers for your printer.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I'm not sure what I tried that fixed it, but it's gone now!

Thanks again.
