I had a usb ext drive that I had used to clone my desktop, well when I went to use drive for something else, of course it was full..... well somehow after formating, shrinking partions etc...not even sure what I did..finally got an empty drve BUT with no drive letter and compter did not see it for using it for a normal backup.... thru help from this forum I finally got computer to see my drive....Now it shows as named "Backup + BL" containing win8 (G:) , OS (L:) and HP recovery (M) which I belive is ok, but can I change the name from "backup + bl" ? I dont know where that cane from.................... and now since I am here.... the next time I want to use this cloned disk for something else how do I just get a clean drve again with no partions etc, just like it came from factory???

thanks for getting me this far !!!

Hi Tom, Welcome to Sevenforums.

To delete a partition

Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button, go to Control Panel>System and Security>Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.* Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

In the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

Right-click the volume, such as a partition or logical drive, that you want to delete, and then click Delete Volume.

Click Yes to delete the volume. After you delete all the partitions, format it again.

Keep us posted.
