rename hard drive with 11 characters - consequences?

Hi

I am suddenly getting a message from my pro tools iLok that I need to have fewer than 11 characters in my drive name in order to avoid corrupting the iLok security; if I do this, changing 'local drive (C' to, say, Ldrive(C, will this mess up any of my program and file assignments?

Not at all. I've been renaming my HDs and my partitions for years, no problems.

The acceptable naming of drives for iLok and windows may be totally different - I do not know the iLok system so cannot comment on the limits of it's operation, But it may include the original drive name in it's security keys or systems. You will need to check with the iLok support team to be totally sure
