It's a long story how this happened, but unless you need the info I'll skip right to the immediate problem. My DVD drive is now shown as "DVD RW Drive (G) Floppy" in the "Computer" window. Is it possible to change the drive name to get rid of the "Floppy" I accidently added during the initial setup? I can't seem to find a way.

.
You could try uninstalling the drive from the Device Manager. Then reboot the computer - Windows will re-detect it and may give it the default name/description.

Nope...That didn't help. Comes up just the same in Computer.

Another strange thing. My external USB floppy drive sometimes shows as B, sometimes as A. Worse yet, sometimes I get both an A and B floppy indication!

I've learned my lesson - never change the drive letter of your removable drives!

It may help if you go into Disk Management where you can change assigned drive letters for removable drives. Regarding the external floppy drive, in days of old letters A and B were reserved for floppy drives. If memory serves when there is only one floppy it's normal to be able to use both A: and B: to access it. I'm remembering back to days of DOS though, so I might be missing something. :geek:
