Hello,

I've been trying to fix my problem with changing the wallpaper and themes but have had no luck at all. Believe me, I've tried everything! So, I thought the only answer was a repair install. I followed the instructions from this site carefully and thought it would work, but after it starts to check compatibility, it says my current version of Windows is newer than the upgrade and cannot continue.

Is there something I can do to fix that or am I just screwed? My current system has service pack 1 installed.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Ok, after doing a little more reading, I see it's the service pack that's causing the problem. Thanks anyway.

You would need to get an install dvd with the service pack included.

Thank you for your response.
Yeah, I don't think it's worth it to go through all that just to fix the wallpaper problem. I was hoping for an easier fix, but there doesn't appear to be one. I can still change my wallpaper using Firefox, so that's not too bad.

Thanks for your help.

Are you not able to change the background by rightclicking Desktop, choosing Personalize, then setting the Desktop Background from the dropdown menu, browsing to your own pictures if you want them?

No, that doesn't work. Also, If I try to open a picture, right-click on it and choose set as background, I get the following error "the image can't be set as wallpaper. An internal error occurred."

If I try to change the theme, nothing happens. The pictures in the themes are not displayed, although the color changes, the picture never does.

Yes, I have run SFC and it didn't find any problems. I have not tried uninstalling SP1, so maybe that might be the way to go. Thanks for your help.

Uninstalling SP1 didn't work. Oh well....I guess I'm stuck with it.
