Solved Repair Install with OEM Win 7 DVD

Hi,

I'd like to do a repair install of my Win 7 Pro x64 SP1 with my OEM Win 7 Pro x64 SP1 DVD. I reviewed the tutorial, link below, on the topic, but it specifically pertains to Retail Win 7.

Can I follow the tutorial using my OEM Win 7 DVD? If not, is there a procedure to complete a repair install of Win 7 with an OEM Win 7 DVD?

If it was bought as a packaged oem product, the dvd is identical to regular retail.
Repair install should be fine.

If you got it as a recovery disc from a specific manufacturer, it might not be exactly the same.Probably still be ok for repair install.

You will need to insert your 7 key at some stage.

I just did a repair install this evening. I used the iso originally identical to those on digital river, but I injected about 160 updates into the image first.

Yes, the OEM Win 7 SP1 was purchased as a system builder's OEM Win 7.

Someone should amend the tutorial to distinguish between Retail, OEM system builder, and manufacturer's recovery disk.

They all use the same retail installer for the version and bit-rate, and all are Repair Installed the same.
