repair of Win 7 Pro OEM - ordinal 573 not in iertutil.dll

I am trying to repair a Win 7 running system that failed to successfully move between motherboards using software from a backup system that was supposed to handle this. I tried repair before but from reading tutorials here, I think my slip-streamed SP1 ISO file was incorrect and did not work. I have downloaded a Win 7 SP1 ISO from MS. It is on a USB drive.

I am following the tutorial on this site to upgrade while keeping all the applications, data, and installed programs.

After starting the upgrade, the process stopped with the following paraphrased message: repair of Win 7 Pro OEM ordinal 573 not in iertutil.dll

How can I fix this to proceed?

Sounds like you can boot the os you transferred.

In what way did it fail to successfully move between motherboards?

Disk drives don't work - I can see only 1 of 3 (all visible in the BIOS). Spontaneous crashes and BSOD.

I found some posts about the error message relating to two KBs for IE9. Since my IE9 has refused to update for months I tried removing the patches. The specific error message is gone now but it still fails.

Message now says the following:

The following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.

• 
  [*] An error prevented a required compliance check from completing. Cancel the installation and try upgrading again.
• Not terribly enlightening. I have tried twice.

You can boot into windows - but it doesn't recognise some of your hard drives?

Is that the problem.

If you upload the system hive in a .zip file, I will have a go at fixing it.

The latest official ISO with SP1 and refreshed media is provided in Repair Install.

I'd also run a few Startup Repairs once you can boot the DVD.

How did you adjust the OS to boot on different hardware. You may need to run an Adaptive Restore program like Paragon on it or even better Clean Reinstall.

disconnect ALL exterenal USB hardware except KB and Mouse

You need to start your computer in safe mode with networking

Your system is trying to load drivers that are not meant for your new motherboard


Safemode will load basic drivers to avoid crashes

The networking part will give you internet access to download your new motherboard drivers, unless you have the CD already

Install the drivers

some will fail, skip those continue to the next drivers, then come back to the failed ones.

reboot normally

if no crash, then run windows updates

if BSOD then reboot in safe mode with networking and continue to load more drivers from download.
