Repartition VHD?

Does anyone know how to repartition a vhd?

I have a server backup that I would like to boot from in hyper-v to recover some data.

The problem is that the main partition doesn't include a system reserved partition and I can't boot from it without that.

on Windows 7/2008, run diskmgmt.msc, attach the vhd, then partition the disk as if it's a real disk. Unattach the vhd.
