Repeated BSOD - files attached

Hi guys,

Win7 x64
Self Build - full retail win7
Age... Oldest is case (5 years), but other than that it's all less than a year old apart from the mobo which is 2+
Nothing is overclocked, except for the north bridge by a tiny amount to help with the DDR28500 Memory

Not sure why it's happening tbh - it started doing BSOD after the latest round of upgrades which was hard drives, gfx, satellite card, memory and CPU all within a month of each other. I reinstalled the os at the same time. Maybe April or June this year?

I've since removed everything, blasted slots with air and then reseated. It's not a heat issue either as the machine has never been hot when it crashes.

Several problems here. Lets start with the biggest first



1-ASACPI.SYS a major cause of BSOD's in the 2005 rev.

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.
The 2005 (and before) version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.SYS file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT 2005).


2-Most of these crashes were Related to cmudaxp.sys Audio WDM Driver from C-Media Inc. I would re-install it with the newest version available.

3-dvblinkcap.sys. I can find no references to this and become suspicious. I would download malwarbytes and run it just to be certain.

Brilliant. Thanks for your response Zigzag, and quick too! I shall get on it right away and report back. In the meantime, FYI:

1) Somehow rings a bell that... Will do.

2) I have the latest drivers but will reinstall them

3) This is dvblink; I regularly scan with MB and nowt comes up.

Right then...

1) Done. I often look to make sure I have the latest drivers, but, quite sensibly I think, I avoid any kind of 'utility' made by Asus. Why on earth did they hide a rather important system update in with utilities? *shakes head*

2) Done. I had the latest drivers, but I always had the feeling they were a bit flaky for some reason. I uninstalled, rebooted to safe mode, ran Driver Sweeper, rebooted then did a clean install. So far so good.

3) Updated MB and did a full scan: came back clean.
