Repeated consistent BSOD, error 0x0000007f

BSODs repeatedly appear, about 1 each day on average.
I have no clue about the origin, as they happen with no
apparent regularity, and not as a consequence of any specific activity.
They are consistently showing the same error:

bsod 0x0000007f

Please help!
If I can't fix this mess, my pc is unusable.

I do notice Kaspersky which is a frequent cause of BSOD's. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials at least to test.

I would also run the update readiness tool and then update to SP-1

ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite,
not Kaspersky!!! So I'm curious:
- how Kaspersky appeared as an active application on my PC
- does your recommendations apply the same?

Related to kl1.sys Kaspersky Unified Driver from Kaspersky Lab.


I would remove remove both were it me. Both zone alarm and Kas are known causes.

So my recommendations do almost the same

No idea how. If you are the only one with physical access to the machine and it came with a blank HD I would run a malwarebtes scan just to be sure.

Have you ever restored the computer?

No Kaspersky...

I bought this machine 10 days ago,
blank HD, and started by installing the OS (Win7 Ult. x64).
I had no time to restore it yet!
But I re-installed it twice already...

As you suggested, I un-installed Zone Alarm,
I activated windows firewall
and now I proceed with
Microsoft Secutrity Essential...

By the way, I also launched Kasperky remover,
but as I expected it did not find its target (see figure...)

How is it safe to remove those potentially dangerous
Kasperski files (kl1.sys and kl2.sys)?

Since there is no Kasperski antivirus installed on my PC,
I suppose that those files have been brought by some other app.
Deleting them directly can therefore harm such app.

What would you suggest?

Meanwhile, it's 48 hours since I applied the suggestions
of zigzag3143 and no BSOD have appeared yet...

There is an un-installer for Kaspersky here.

No other app should be using them.

If you are still tentative you can rename them to kl1.bak, and kl2.bak to prevent them from loading then see if any app complains. If not remove them

No BSOD's is a good sign. Just have to wait and see if the have been eliminated.

For I don't know what reason I dont' find kl1.sys nor kl2.sys
in any Windows dir or sub-dirs.

May be when I un-installed and cleaned up Zone Alarm they
also have been removed.

Indeed in my second PC, where I still have
ZoneAlarm installed, I found Kl1.sys in a ZoneAlarm install dir!!!
However that machine runs smooth a silk since more than year...
Never saw a BSOD there...
