Repetitive upgrades?

This is a simple and apparently harmless issue, but I am curious. I will be upgrading to Windows 10 fairly soon.

Here's the question: Every time I use the Start/Shutdown menu to exit from windows, it goes off and downloads 2 updates, and I suspect that this is the same two updates every time. Or, perhaps there are so many updates to download that it will take some time for this process to end. In the past I have had on occasion large numbers of multiple updates download all in one exit session, so I know that it is possible for this to happen. Maybe Microsoft is just stuck in a rut.

OOPS: Forgot; I am running Windows 7 Professional SP1 on a 32-bit system.

It might be nice to know which updates you're having issues with.

Just run updates manually, when you go to shut down, they`ll be no updates there to install.

There is no excuse not to have every update for windows 7 installed by now.

This is apparently not as simple as I thought at first glance. I had forgotten about the Windows Update section in Control Panel; when I examined the history, I found repeated failures, two of them for Microsoft Security Essentials and Microsoft Visual C. I downloaded and ran Microsoft's Fixit, and that didn't make any difference. Apparently my repeated updates are due to these failures. Here are the failure details:

Well the MSE one is easy enough possibly
Just uninstall MSE

Then if you wish reinstall it or free Panda
FREE and lightweight antivirus - Panda Security

Possibly sfc /scannow might find and correct the c++ issue :/
