Replacement Case Fans?

I need to replace a 40mm case fan (which was added as an afterthought), but there are brushless, etc.

How long should this type of fan last in daily usage (in addition to other fans)?

I see costs for fans from $2 to $7 on this size fan (does cost have any bearing on how long they'll last)?

This is for my desktop.

Any fan should last several years in normal operation. I would not expect much of a correlation between cost and longevity.

Get a reliable brand--Scythe, Nexus, Noctua, etc.

Fans that small can't move much air without spinning very fast, so you should expect it to make a racket.
