Replacing OS: Software question

Hloder, I'm buying an Asus laptop along with a Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade.
The laptop has Vista 32 bit, and I'm planning on doing a clean install and getting Windows 7 64 bit on it.
I had no idea how to even do a clean install, but I've been doing alot of research, and my current question is:
The Software that's on the computer from the beginning, will it be removed when I replace the Vista with the Windows 7?
Like all the basic program, update program, and such, will it be deleted?

Well that depends when you start the install you have a to choose to format the drive or not to. I will recommend to format the drive this will remove all items from the hard drive making sure nothing is left behind to cause issues with the new install of windows.

Uh, I think I made a mistake formulating..
I want the programs to be there after I remove vista and install windows 7.

Hello RallyGunde,

As far as I understand it is not possible to upgrade Vista 32-bit to Windows 7.
Your upgrade will be the 32-bit version, so you will need to get a 64-bit version.

I didnt plan on upgrading, I did however plan on doing a clean install, removing Vista and replacing it with Windows 7.
And changing from a 32 bit Vista to 64 bit 7 should be possible if everyone who's told me is telling the truth..

If you are going to do a clean install, no programs from vista will be carried over. If you do an upgrade your programs will still be there.

So, everything that the computer contained before the removal of vista and installation of 7 will be gone.
I'm swedish so computer terms are like, lil difficult to translate.
Easier talking to swedish people over forums but there aint no real swedish w7 forums.

I'll need to set that up before I proceed with the installation right?
Or does this happen all by it self?
But all windows OS brings the basic windows applications right? Word, paint, mail and that stuff? and there won't be any other programs on this computer aside from the manufactorer's implemented software.
If I've been missing that the whole time I've been thinking about this... Jeez man.

The installation will create the windows.old where your vista files will be stored.. that is automatic ... You will get a very basic set of programs.. No email though.. there are several available such as Live Mail, Thunderbird and others so that shouldnt be a problem...

I would strongly suggest reading Brinks tutorial on doing a clean install before you do anything.. It will save you a lot of problems in the future.. Read it -=> here
