Hey, you know I will not upgrade to Windows 8 - BECAUSE I LOVE SEVEN FORUMS.

I have has three BSOD in as many weeks, so I better get someone to help me find out why. Shutdown and restart Windows normal always brings me back up (so far).

Please note I update BitDefender & Chrome after the event but before capturing the attached; don't know if this matters.

Thanks!

Code:
BugCheck F4, {3, fffffa80126a0b30, fffffa80126a0e10, fffff800037df270}

This bugcheck indicates a disk I/O error, what does this mean?
Well its when data cannot be read/written to and from disk so operations cannot be completed.

Lets run some drive tests.

Run a Disk Check to scan for errors

   Note

Afterwards go into an Elevated Command Prompt (Run as administrator) and type in sfc /scannow
If it finds errors reboot and run the scan two more times

Run SeaTools to see if your HDD or SSD is failing

Post back the results.

Hi bam12. :D

An upgradation to 8 will not cease your membership in SF. If you want, you may upgrade. :)

How old the 160 BG Seagate Barracuda HDD is? Test it using Seatools. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/313457-seatools-dos-windows-how-use.html

Because we are seeing a very repetitive error on it.

So let us know the result.

Thank you for your help!

I have run the chkdsk and sfc with no problems, and the 'short' seattools run - also no problems detected.

I will prefer to wait for another BSOD report before working on the controller, because that will be a heavy job. :)

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.
If the test reports good, we have to pay attention to the controller itself.
Code:
Name Intel(R) Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA [COLOR=Red][B]RAID[/B] [B]Controller[/B][/COLOR]

Just a note:
My HP laptop reports that error against my Seagate external drive at every startup. It does not seem to cause any issues, only the event gets logged (only at startup). All tests come back clean every time.

I suspected the controller when the original internal HD exhibited some issues, but that was replaced and those issues are resolved.
The event is focused on my external HD.

In my case I think it's related to USB. I never have located a resolution to this issue, but I'll watch this thread.
