You can do it. See this DR help link:

Windows 7 US Online Store

Step 2 – Download the ISO Image of Windows 7
Please obtain these links by contacting Digital River customer support. The Windows 7 ISO file is large (>2GB). Please verify that you have sufficient hard disk space to download this file and install Windows 7. Approx. 20GB will be enough for both operations.
Download the Windows 7 ISO image and save the file to a location you can remember. The download may take a considerable amount of time on slower internet connections.

Also being reported by Gizmodo.

Yes. First download failed for me...but my second attempt is now at 80% with 2.4 GB down so far...and it is still going. Perhaps DR was having issues with their servers.

For the most part, I think that folks are good if the procedure to manually create the ISO works for them. It worked for me. :) Requesting an ISO download from DR directly, however, appears to be a nice legal (and perhaps less frustrating) solution for the folks who can't seem to create either the ISO or a bootable flash drive. There seem to still be some of those folks in the "student d/l" thread...and many folks (myself included) don't play with torrents. :)

Adrian - my Technet download was only 3GB. Is there something different about the Digital River download?

Hey Keg, I thought the iso was 4 gigs. I'm tired!
I might watch the new BSG DVD that just came in.

From what I understand, the admins didn't like the direct link to the download...just to avoid any problems...but you can go read the story on Gizmodo:

Microsoft Fixes Windows 7 Student Edition Upgrade Problems - Windows 7 student edition - Gizmodo

The story contains a link to the 64 bit version of Win 7 home hosted by Digital River. Digital River also has similar links for the 32 bit version of Home and both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Pro....named by MS ISO code.

cheers,
Steve

cheers,

hello, those links do not work. They start off downloading then stop randomly usually before 100mb is downloaded. Anyone have other links to the iso file? Or have a decent guide on how to convert the normal digitalriver 64 bit download into an iso file?

Hello Windows Seven Forums. I recently purchaced the student download of Windows 7 Professional and I am currently trying to download the 64bit ISO image from Digital River. This is what I get:
DR1.png
DR2.png
I save the ISO image to my desktop and it's 3GB. I have read on this site that this is the sive of the image.
DR3.png
DR4.png
Is this all I need to burn to disk for the install even though the downloader says it failed?

BTW: My first of many Posts here and Thank You.
