Hi,

If something goes wrong while upgrading to Win 10, can I go back to Win 7, I have the 7 full backup by Macrium Reflect and its Rescue media?

Thank you
barsim

Sure, though the safest way to do this might be: make a backup of your current system, recover that backup to a new drive, install the new drive to your computer, and put the computer's current good drive away for safe keeping, upgrading lastly the new/newly-installed drive instead.

Clearly I am being super-conservative to recommend a 2nd drive but there's almost no way to mess it up.

This is one of the few times where images are good as a backup. Simply blow up the whole failed downgrade and overwrite by the known-good Win7 install.

If you lack an image, the only sure way to return to a fully operational state is a clean install. The failed downgrade may also fail to restore the functioning previous install.

If you use MR to restore a full image, do not use Delta Rapid Restore, use the option that completely overwrites the OS partition.

Hello samuria,

Thank you for your suggestion.
Could you expand on this? Practically I'm a novice user.

Thank you
