I just got a new TV and i have plugged my laptop into it for when im doing my work.

It's 1080p but when I set the resolution to 1920x1080 it cuts off the edges of the screen. As if the picture is too wide for the screen.

When I set it to 1366x768 (The same as my laptop) it just puts it in the middle of the screen.

1680x1050 seems to fit ok but then when i drag windows across the sizes are wrong

Go to your graphics control software, there's probably an option for overscan, fiddle with that to your hearts content.

OK so I have it in 1080p atm but it's through VGA because HDMI was just being silly. Looks decent through here anyway. But now the top slice of the screen is cut off unless I change the scaling.

Very odd

As you were doing it through HDMI initially, if you haven't already done so, have you tried setting the TV to "Screen Fit" mode? (Some TVs may name this differently but it's the mode that doesn't trim anything)

Also I'm not sure why it's doing this.

It won't let me move the icons to the edge of the screen

OK I put my VGA back in and it gave me crazy resolutions I didn't have before. It seems to be OK now. It's on 1920x1080 and the top looks ok.

But I still can't move those icons to the edge of the screen. My laptop is on the right btw
