Resolution issue.

Greetings,
just wanted to find out, if there is a chance to somehow force an application - a PC game in this example - to adjust itself to a full screen mode.

I'm not really sure, how to describe that, since I've never met with a such thing before.

I start the game and when it launches, it is using only the middle part of my screen - so there is this game running and on its both sides, there are huge black stripes, which are filling the rest of the screen, so basically, it is running in a full screen, but I want to have it all over my screen, not only in a small square with black filler on left and right.

Also, I'm using a laptop for this, so there is no extra button for auto-adjust on the monitor.

Can this issue be even fixed via Windows? Or I should rather try to search for graphic card drivers or contact the manufacturer of the laptop?

Also, I though about this and it might be due to the so called wide-screen, but I had a wide-screen monitor before, bigger, but still, and there were no such resolution problems.

Also, no matter how I change the resolution in game, it still stays limited to that square with black background around it.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Best Regards,
SS-Devious

What's the native resolution of the panel? 1920x1080? When you change the game's resolution, does it list your panel's native resolution?

This laptop supports 1600x900. When I try to lower it down in Windows - same thing occurs, the black stripes, which compensate for the rest of the screen. I guess, there is no solution, because no matter of what resolution I chose in that game - still it remains. It's probably the weird resolution combined with GPU. No big deal, just another motivation to get back to PC instead of laptop. Thanks for your time zzz.

Hmm... I never experience that before... Did you press the "Apply" button (or anything similar) in the game? I have a MacBook Pro 15", it got a similar resolution to your laptop, all I do is I select 1600x900 in the game's preferences and hit "Apply" (or "OK") in-game, the game will then re-adjust to the new resolution, eliminating the vertical black bars. As for using resolution other than the native, IIRC there's an option in nVidia control panel that let's you change the scaling option (I'm not sure that it will work with the internal LCD display) when paired with external display, it will "stretch" whatever resolution it's displaying...

In device manager does it show your graphics adapter or Pnp?
If it doesn't list you specific card you may want to find the driver for your card.

Also please go to the top of the page under user CP then scroll down to edit system specs and enter them in their that way everyone doesn't have to find the post # you listed them on they can just use my system specs in the lower left hand corner.

Also their are a number of your models listed we need the last 2 letters to know exactly which one it is.
Select a product or category from the list below - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

Thanks. Fabe

Once more here, special thanks to zzz and apologies for wasting your time. Indeed that NVIDIA control panel fixed that - option allowed something called like auto-rescalling.
