Hi there, I just reinstalled windows 7 today, and Ive got an issue with my resolution

Im using my tv as a monitor, but it wasnt always like that. When I installed w7 first, my computer was connected to a monitor. But then i connected it to my tv. Now, i reinstalled it to my tv, and it is having issues getting the same resolution as before. Is there any way i can get my resolution back?

i tried finding the settings for my previous user profile from the previous installation of w7, but i cant find it. Any ideas?

EDIT: before anyone asks, yes, ive updated my drivers to the same ones they were before.

It says i have a standard vga graphics adapter. Ive got the drivers for it, but my tv says, when i try to put it in higher resolution, that its an invalid format. i would think its a pc side problem cuz it didnt do it before.

also, what is the standard computer resolution on a 720p monitor?

Install your GPU driver, a standard adaptor means its not being detected properly, for 720p check your TV's manual.

That depends on the monitor,,,,,, What model is it,,,

You also have to take into consideration the Native Resolution of any LCD.

What Model TV?

What are your full system specs?

What Video Drivers are you using?

Did you change Video Cards?

Is it ATI or Nvidia?

The list goes on for now........

I'm surprised Windows 7 runs on that system - use HWInfo32 in the drivers guide in my sig to find out your chipset. You can also post a screenshot of the summary screen. Search for snip in the start menu.

Yeah, a lot of people usually are. And it runs pretty nicely, given the hardware its got in it.

Olevia 32' 720P TV

Recommended Resolution: 1366 x 768

That PC has integrated graphics,,, most likely too old to be fully compatible with 7.
Is it a hp pavilion 500a or d or s or y?

Can you provide Serial Number and P/N? or a full model number? like D7222w or something?

(yep thats my tv, cept its black. anyways, the owners manual says that its got that resolution. thanks =])

interestingly enough, the back says 500. Doesnt have a letter after it or anything. buuut...

system number: DD210A
Serial number:" MX31327077

Edit again: doesnt matter if its not fully compatable with 7, (i cant run aero =[) but i DO know it is capable of running in a better resolution because its done it before.

This is probably it. And there are no drivers for that system from HP, and if there are non ein Windows Updates, then you are stuck with whatever drivers there are available in Win 7.

And the only ones who can fix that is HP. this is not a Windows 7 problem.

I am assuming it is Win7 32bit,,, so you can try this,.,., HP Software Update Utility

However,,, and this is a BIG HUGE If,,,,,,, you might be able to get away with the XP drivers. But I doubt it. and if you already tried that then, you know the answer.

Well after a bit more looking,, there is one last thing you can try if you haven't already,,..

Intel Extreme Graphics Drivers (Woops,, my bad,, sorry about that,, I didn't read completely. They don't provide drivers for Win7 on that video.)

Yes I did see all the info ins System Specs,, but the Model number you gave made it easier to find on HP's site.

But as you said it worked before,, then something is missing,,,

What really sucks is that, i had saved the driver install file, in just the occasion that i would need it (like this) but recently i found out i was gonna get enough money to purchase a brand new computer, worthy of the honorific of 'rig' :p

so i deleted it for some space on the harddrive, because i didnt think i would need it.

whoops

EDIT: HAH!!!! i win! =]

Downloaded drivers for xp version of my card and using the nvidia control panel it allowed me to change my resolution without failing

>.> but its at 1360-768... its missing six pixels..

ah well. i dont care, im happy.

On a side note, is there any way i can change the taskbar color without aero? the light blue is getting old =\
