Resolution lowest and colour donw to 8-bit

Hi was recently playing a game until my Pc crashed and restarted.

Upon reboot my resolution went down to the lowest possible and color at 8-bit.

I had searched other threads saying that its the driver for the Graphics card.
I updated both OS and nvidia Graphics card.

These are my Specs:

Windows 7 32-bit
Cpu Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 Ghz Q6600
Ram: 2Gb 1024 mhz
Motherboard: Rampage Formula
Graphics Card: Sparkle Nvidia 8800 GTX 512MB
PSU: 550watts

Now ive been with Windows 7 for a few months and never had any problems. I had not installed any new software not driver not even anti virus update, just out of the blues .

Any help would be very helpful.

lets verify that the driver is installed and working

type device manger in search. go to the display tab. is your griver listed? does it have a yellow triangle on it? Are there any other "unknown" drivers with yellow on them?

Hi thanks for the quick reply.

The only Yellow indication was on the graphics card itself and it was an exclamation mark.

I went on properties and googled the the error code and it was code 24.

now code 24 indicates its either driver problem or hardware problem.
I installed the latest driver which is 195.65 from the nvidia website.

So i ruled it out to be hardware failure from the Graphics card.( i inputted another graphics card an 8800gt and the resolution came to normal again.

Its Good news since i got my PC back and bad that i lost my Graphics card.

If you think it might have to do with the windows it would rarely light up my day but i have seen no thread of someone using that graphics card with this window so i wouldn't know and i don't have another pc with enough psu to test the 8800 on.
