Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

When I turn my monitor off and then back on, the resolution is always screwed up. When I try to set it to the resolution I was using, it's not even available.

The only way to get it back is to go to screen resolution and then I have to DETECT the monitor.

It's as if it's not detecting the monitor when it is powered back up and I have to force it to detect.

Any ideas?

Thanks so much!!

Download your latest graphics card drivers and if applicable monitor display drivers

ATI/AMD Graphics Drivers & Software

Envision Website > America > Support > Drivers (Left) > LCD Monitor

If that doesn't help, here is a potential fix.

   Warning
This is registry edit, backup your registry before attempting this.

1) Go to Start --> Run --> regedit and press enter

2) Click 'Edit' and click 'Find' in the Edit menu

3) Type ' DefaultSettings.XResolution ' (without quotes) and click 'Find'

4) Now double click it and change the hexadecimal value to 400 which corresponds to 1024

5) Click 'Find Next' and repeat Step 4)

6) Now do the same for ' DefaultSettings.YResolution ' (without quotes) and change the hexadecimal value to 300 which corresponds to 768 and restart.

If you want a setting other than 1024x768, I have no idea what the values for those would be.

The other solution may work, but if not, you can try a different user name in Windows 7 and see if the same thing happens with it. If it doesn't, then it's a profile issue.

Oddly enough what you are describing is the same problem I'm seeing with my users in Windows XP where they power off and then back on and the resolution is messed up. usually it's related to a profile issue.
