Since we don't have access to your other PC it might be quicker if you checked it mainly because we'd all be guessing for what it is you have there.

Okay. Try going into the BIOS to figure out what the video card is.

doesnt say anything. it's actually not my computer, im helping put windows 7 on it for my parents.

YOu need to figure out what graphics card it has. You should be able to find it in BIOS, or you just open up the case and take the card out, if it's not integrated, and see what it says on the card. It definitely seems to be a driver issue.

i was able to get it to the right size, but now the color is all messed up.

It only looks for updates available through windows updates. 99% of the time it does not have the newest drivers and based on what you posted earlier it sounds like it did not properly recognize you video card. So, you most likely do not have a proper video card driver installed, let alone the newest one available.

Or see if it says what video card it is in BIOS. TO get into the BIOS settings, restart the computer and press F2 repeatedly during the first screen the appear.
