Well windows was updating and i restarted because of an emergency and now the applications wont load. Explorer stops responding. Winamp opens after 10 minutes. Tried running sfc scan but it didn't help? What do i do?

Ok now i decided to do a repair installation but every time i click on setup.exe it never starts and just keeps loading. Restarted in safe mode and the setup runs but it says that i cant do a repair install in safe mode. I then go to msconfig and do a selective startup. Setup starts but i get an error "Windows cannot determine the hard disk". So frustrating? Any way to do it?
