Is there any way to restore programs that come with Windows to there orginal place? When I search in the start menu for programs, certain ones don't show and I have to go in manually and create shortcuts on my dock.

Is there any way to fix this?

If you create a new user account, the programs list in the start menu should revert to the normal version with additional programs from your current installation. It may be a work around, but I don't know of a way to restore the start menu programs list to stock. You could try to sync it with the global list.

In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the folder is located in x:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu for individual users, or x:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu for all users collectively.

It can be done, but it is a little tricky. Watch this:

1. Go to C > Program Data > Microsoft > Windows. There right click on the "Start Menu" folder and "Send to" Desktop. Now you have a shortcut of the start menu folder on the desktop.
Note: You may have to first set the C folder to show hidden files (Program data is one of those). You do that via Organize > Folder and Search Options > View tab.

2. Now you go to C > Program files > go to the program folder that you want to put back into Start > right click on it > Copy to Desktop. Now you have a copy of the folder file (not a shortcut) on the desktop.

3. Now you drag your folder into the Start menu folder shortcut on the desktop. If you now check in All Programs, you will see that your program folder is back. Little problem is that it contains everything that is in that folder in C > Program files. But since this is a copy, you could clean it up - best whilst it is sitting on the desktop.

4. When you are all done, you can delete the Start Menu folder shortcut from the desktop.

Mm, not exactly what I was looking for, but ok, I'll try it.

Actually, once I'm done making my theme I'll zip everything, put it on my server, restore my computer, and put the files back on.
