Hi!
Anybody can help me... I'am using a deepfreeze6 that currently detected corrupted by MCAFEE ... Found Artemis(ProgramFiles/Faronics/Deepfreeze/Deepreeze6.exe), now I can no longer boot my pc, so I start using restore and repair disc.... some suggests that I just format my drive... My problem is I do not have a windows installer.... Instead I want to try to boot using bootable cd then delete the corrupted file from dos prompt then back up my computer using the win image that i created.... Do tell me if it is possible or just tell what to do....

Thanks

Hello katrina and welcome to Seven Forums.

A few questions. You say you "...start using restore and repair disc...." and you "...want to try to boot using bootable cd then delete the corrupted file from dos prompt then back up my computer using the win image that i created..."

Where did you get the restore and repair disc? Did deepfreeze6 let you create it?

What Windows image do you have? Was it an image made by deepfreeze6 or from the Windows 7 imaging tool?

If you have a good system image (which is an exact copy of your entire hard drive and different from just a backup of certain files) you can use that image to restore your computer. You don't have to go through a dos prompt to delete corrupt files.

I want to delete the source of the problem. The deepfreeze program because everytime I try to make changes on it, it would not let me, once I reboot the system it always go back from what I started.... The image came from windows itself I just copied it from a friend with the same features as what I have. Do tell me if I just copied the win image would it delete or overwrite everything.

If your Windows system image came from a friend's computer it probably won't work on your computer. Windows does that to prevent people from stealing from one computer and installing it on another.

Even if you delete the deepfreeze6 your computer will most likely still have problems. It sounds like the deepfreeze program may have damaged other system files.

If your computer came with Windows 7 already installed, you probably have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive. This hidden recovery partition can return your machine to factory specifications. Make it exactly like it was the day you bought it. If you can tell us the exact make and model of your computer we can probably tell you how you can access the hidden partition (each manufacturer has a different way to do it.)

Katrina,

By filling out your System Specs, then quite often we immediately have a suggestion for you.

Now here is how. You probably should use SIW to gather info. It also has a non-install version (download the .zip file). SIW tells you more about your hardware than Speccy. Go to |hardware|Summary when you run SIW for info about your computer.

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (3rd item in the top menu bar) |
Your Profile (left-hand column, Edit System Spec

To gather info, use
Speccy - System Information - Free Download
or SIW or the System Info tool,
Use System Info to see your System Specs

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on the SAVE CHANGES button.

Katrina, you might be able to repair those files if you can get into Safe Mode.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

Once in Safe Mode try running a System File Checker scan. This will check the integrity of all protected Windows 7 system files and replace incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

It will really help us to help you if you can give us your system information.
