restore failed 0x80070495

Hello, here what went down:

Bought new SSD which is smaller than the HDD

did a defragment some manual file backup and general housekeeping.

Did a windows 7 backup image before doing anything else

installed third party software to shrink the disk to an appropriate level for the SSD

Did a second windows 7 backup image (not overwriting the first)

now I can not restore any image to the SSD nor to HDD and keep getting the 0x80070495 error

it also says: 'Volume ID not found' (I have searched everywhere and it seems that nobody gets this error apart from some servers)

Any help?

'clean all' command fixed it.
