Restore Points

My system does not seem to be taking periodic restore points. I can see the restore points that are created by Windows Update, but there are no System Restore points that were created when I was running Windows Vista.

My system does go into sleep mode after 30 minutes of inactivity, but scheduled tasks don't wake it (i.e. automatic system backup).

Is there anything that I have to set or re-set to get these actions to occur, or do I have to keep the system from entering sleep mode?

I noticed in trying to modify the power plan that there is an advanced optiom to enable/disable wake timers, but cannot find any information on setting/using them.

Can anyone help eith these issues?

Thanks.
Steve

i noticed in you specs you say your using Vista. Is this question about Vista or Win7?
And what version? Under Backup there is a place for setting restore points and they can be set automatically when ever you make changes or add programs.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. I was just trying to indicate that it did work properly using Vista.
I have not found a backup application in Windows 7.

Go to search, type in task scheduler. In scheduler in the left pane, bring down the tree. You will see system restore, make sure it is set and not disabled.

Furthermore, a little known fact. If you make a system restore, now, due to an update etc, the next scheduled SR will not be made until a certain amount of time passes.

Thanks. Yes, there were multiple previous restore points taken by update. I don't think Vista worked the same way. As I recall, it took a restore point whether or not another function had created one.
