Computer: Another Acer Aspire-i3-370Mprocessor, 4 GB DDR3 Memory

My other computer is down entirely after the updates.
Thought this one made it, but just discovered that
I now have "restricted rights." The message said to
"contact the administrator." I am the administrator and it's
the only account on this machine other than a disabled
guest. I'm still listed as the Administrator when I go
to the control panel, but can't do simple things like
click on links that have never been a problem in the past.
I have to leave town tomorrow and need the laptops for
my work. I'm working on it, but if anyone recognizes this
problem and knows an easy fix, I would be exceedingly
grateful.

Hi,

A lot of Malware tends to disable Admin privledges. I'd advise a Full System Scan with MalwareBytes and see if it comes up with anythying. It might not be the update that's at fault, it could be that something has slipped the net and infected your machine.

Malware Scan

I was getting the computers ready to go out of town and
running my usual utilities and updates to get things in tip top shape. Fortunately, right before installing the updates on the computer that is down entirely, I had just finished was a complete virus and malware scan...full version, not the fast one. It was clean. So I don't have to wonder about that one. I'll run one on this computer with the restricted admin rights and see if I have one here. Thanks.

ran the full malware. it's clean. but computer does have a new admin account. afraid to just delete it...what if that doesnt give me full rights back. could i lose the ability to fix the problem?
