Restricted Zone - need help.

I have a zipped file from a trusted source. The file within is needed to make a registry change in order to get one of the aircraft in my Flight Simulator to run correctly. The file comes from the author of the software. My problem is that when I attempt to unzip the file, the file is deleted with the comment referring to the file and Restricted Zone. The name of the file is 757fix.reg. Any idea how I can get this file to work? It would seem I need to disable Restricted Zone. BTW, I am the Administrator and have turned off UAC to no avail. Thank you.

Are you using IE? Go to tools- Internet options in IE8 or Gear symbol- Internet options in IE9. Click on the security tab, then click on restricted sites (red circle with cross bar), then click on Sites. Check whether theres any entry there. If there is, try removing that.

I just tried your suggestion - no luck (and nothing in the list of sites). The message is "Windows has blocked the file .... from being extracted" with the Red X warning sign.

Ok. Right click on the zipped file, then click Properties and choose "Unblock" if that option is visible. If it isnt, I guess you'll just need to use a 3rd party zip utility. There are several free ones avaailbale like 7zip or Izarc or winrar trial version.

I took the zipped file to another computer (running XP) and unzipped with no problem. Then was able to run the .reg with no problem. Thanks for your help!
