I have a netbook that I am thinking of returning for an exchange. The problem is that I have used Anytine Upgrade to install Win 7 Home Premium instead of the out-of-the-box Starter version. If I get a replacement netbook with Starter on it, will I be able to use the same activation number on the new one or will it ring up "Tilt"?
If I need to revert to Starter to return this netbook, then how do I do that? There are too many subsequent restore points to be able to go that route. The one that would take me back to starter status has disappeared.

I believe that the Anytime Upgrade key code, once validated with microsoft is no longer available for validation.

If you activated the upgrade, then you might whine and weep to the microsoft activation people and see if they will relent and give you the activation codes.

Otherwise, you will have to purchase another "anytime upgrade" license.

I have dos 6.22, wfwg 3.11, win98, 2000 and xp VHD's available for testing. MS's Virtual PC works great.
Anytime Upgrades are retail Win7 which can migrate to another machine as long as the key is not in use.

To uninstall it, just wipe the HD or install over it.

I cannot reinstall from a DVD (althought I have one for my desktop) because like most netbooks mine does not have a DVD drive.

I have just checked my notebook (Acer Aspire One D255E) and it does have a recovery partition. So, thank you to everyone who commented. It looks as though I have the answer to hand. Another happy camper. :D
