Reverted back - Where did those Updates go?

I was working on my Uncle's office PC installing 13 Optional Updates including NetFramework 4.5.2 which had queued for restart.

During the interim Malwarebytes found what appeared to be serious infection Rogue.multiple (it said it Quarantined but isn't in that file) which when googled said needed ComboFix. I ran Combofix which found a jumble of what appears to be spyware but which could be more serious - I'll upload it to Security for analysis.

But this post concerns the Updates which had been forgotten so after Combofix reboot started to install and then Reverted back for 20 minutes, then a restart, then Windows started very sluggishly to the desktop. I Checked for Updates and it had 3 minor Optionals but none of the other ones it reverted.

I brought the PC home and now there are 12 Important and Optional Updates which seemed to install but again at reboot Reverted Back quickly shutting down, then at startup said Configuring, got up to 35% and changed to Welcome. Do I need to reset Updates?

Your informed advice is greatly appreciated as I'm getting ready to travel and need to have this fixed.

I don't see anything particularly nasty in the Combofix log - there are a couple of PUPs there, but nothing really bad.
I'd do a reset of WU and see if that makes any difference.
Post your C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file before and after, and I'll see what I can see. (but it may not be in time for you)

Noel I just gave it a third try with 10 Updates and it appears to have installed them all now. Do you still suggest reset?

Thanks a lot! ;)

Now I'm getting this when checking:

Capture.PNG

Reset Updates without emptying Installed Updates list, still getting that error when checking.

Ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, now allows to Check for Updates and says there are none.

Can I go to bed now? :sleepy:

Yep! ;)
I think that's it - we won't know until week Tuesday.
