I could only take ~ the first 15 minutes of this film, because it was obvious that it's purpose was to discuss piracy in general, particularly in terms of the modern issue. He did make one statement concerning the "founding" of the USA, in terms of copyrights, but the only examples that he gave were instances that came along much later than the revolution, and were poorly constructed in terms of supporting the original statement.

If this is the best that you can do to support your statement, then I will be forced to ignore it.

I don't find it surprising that a Brit would have a different perspective of history than one born in the USA, but I do admit that I find his statement puzzling. While I do recall taxation being a factor in causing the war, I can't think of a single instance of copyrighting infringement ever being mentioned. Perhaps he would like to enlighten us.

The history you will learn in this country now is questionable, most major universities "like yale" teach from such a left wing view point. Its almost become teaching there own opinions and believes rather then fair and balenced facts. It actually has infected our whole education system besides tech. schools. How they allow this to happen im not sure but its the sad truth.

I'm old enough that I was educated well before the influences of education that you mention, and I find the wisdom of these words quite questionable.

Im not saying you know nothing, In fact, i think you sound pretty smart. I just agree with rst101's view point more. I guess i was referring to the fact that regardless of where we were educated or where we live, all the knowledge we have about it came from someone, who came from someone else, who came from someone else over centuries. I didn't say that copyright was not involved in some fashion. it was rst101 who said that it was. Therefore, I asked for some kind of proof of this. So far, that has not occurred. When learning anything, we should use our own minds and reasoning to decide whether to accept or reject any ideas, and that process requires more than a simple statement...it requires facts.

That was in the first decades of the new republic and had nothing, zero, nada, to do with the founding of the republic.

We can't get into politics here so I can't comment. And I am most certainly not offended.

I know full well America was engaged in what we term today as industrial esprionage early on. But that was not what the country was founded on and had nothing to do with the Declaration of Independence nor the following war for independence. That was the point I was trying to make.

I did not even visit the facebook link. Facebook is hardly the last, or even the first, word in credible historical research.

For what it is worth, Lee is well past 13, and while his manner of expression might be better, but one might also say that your post is like the pot calling the kettle black. Aspersions of immaturity and accusations are not really effective means of communication.
