Right-click Sendto Create Desktop Shortcut Disappeared

Not quite sure when this happened but, when I right-click on an item to create a desktop shortcut, the "Desktop (create shortcut)" option has disappeared. I have the "Desktop (create shortcut).DeskLink" link in the Sendto folder. any ideas how to restore this to the context menu?

Unfortunately, none of that worked (I had tried it all previously, anyway). The "create shortcut" option has not re-appeared in the Sendto context menu.

It shows one item: a removable disk. I had, long ago, deleted all other items OTHER than the "Desktop (create shortcut)"

Odd that it's not in the context menu, but the shortcuts are in your SendTo folder.

If this has just recently happened, then you could try doing a system restore using a restore point dated before this happened to undo it.

Yes: it is odd, but true. Tried oldest sysrem restore, but it had it as well.

The only files in the Sendto folder are the "DESKLINK File (.DeskLink)" hidden "desktop.ini" files.

There is only one other account, which is the Administrator account. It, also, has the same problem.

Did that previously ...to no avail. The same files exist in the Default user sendto folder.

Yes, in both the user-name and default sendto folders and in both accounts. Four locations altogether.

Sorry, but I'm confused. You posted above that you only had those two files in you SendTo folder, but then later say all the shortcuts are in the folder.

Could you please clarify, and post a screenshot showing what you mean?

Sorry, I glossed over the word "shortcuts" that you asked about. I do not have any shortcuts in either of the sendto folders. The items in both of the sendto folders are the original "Desktop (create shortcut).DeskLink" files as downloaded from the link you provided. I've uploaded an image.

OK: just finished following the instructions in that tutorial, for a third time, and still the problem remains. I also tried copying the "DESKLINK File (.DeskLink)" from another working Win 7 OS computer and that doesn't work either.
