I had to reinstall Windows 7 because I wanted to put it inside Ubuntu and VirtualBox. Since it's 2015 and the installation media is a few years old, there were 137 updates to be applied upon a shutdown. It's been stuck on update #136 for a few hours. Is this normal? What will the consequences be if I force a shutdown by killing VirtualBox?
The Windows screen says "do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 136 of 137"
Will Windows be ruined?

As it turns out, that was the right advice. It eventually took more than 15 hours for 137 updates. Now I'm finding robocopy from Windows to an Ubuntu shared folder is taking a long time, so in general this particular machine, is too slow for Windows in VirtualBox.
