Roaming profiles

Hi there, hope this is the right category to post this - if not please let me know.

I am on a Windows 2003 R2 domain and am trying to get some roaming profiles configured for Windows 7 use. Using the Microsoft info here: How to customize default user profiles in Windows 7 and in Windows Server 2008 R2 - I have followed the instructions to copy default profile to a shared location, however, when I try to log on to an account that is pointing to that profile to use, I get an error that it is using a temporary profile because it can't access the files. Near as I can tell, the share is set up correctly - had never had a problem with permissions using roaming profiles that I created from XP (which I do quite a bit). I've see that lots of people seem to be using roaming profiles with 7, so what am I doing wrong? Would love any help I can get at all on this.
