pfft84, welcome to the forums.

What is your is your old sound card? I can pretty much guarantee that you will probably have better luck finding drivers (or a workaround), than getting that new sound card to work. Do yourself a favor and return it. If we can't get your old one going, then let us know how much you are willing to spend and we can recommend one that will work with Windows 7.

P.S. Rocketfish is nothing more than Best Buy's own garbage in-house brand.

I've been having the same issue. I'm d/ling the drivers now...do I install in 7, or can I install in XP?

OK, went ahead with installing them in XP, it works fine.

Rebooted into 7, still have "no adiou output device is installed" in the system tray.

Tried 3 more times to update, install drivers for the card, everytime a BSOD.

What now? I have had other rocketfish stuff that was ok. Can anyone suggest a good, cheap pci sound card for 7?

4left just had a look at the INF for that driver you posted, and it is nothing more than a Rocketfish branded version of the Creative Xtreme Audio (which is nothing more than a renamed Audigy SE/LS/DE/Value, which is a renamed SB Live 24 bit.

That being said there is a good possibility that this,

SB P17X Series Support Pack 2.0 (07/31/2009) - Aud... - Creative Labs

will work with your card. If it doesn't you may still be able to get it to install by adding the DevID for your card to the INF from that set. If it doesn't and you want to try, go to the extracted folder from above and locate the Drivers folder, then look for a file called P17.inf (maybe called P17X.inf). Then add the follwoing in the appropriate places under the Creative DevID's (don't need the headers),

[Creative.NTX86.6]
;; Rocketfish 7.1
%CTAudio_Device1.Dev.ntx86%=CTAudio_Device1,PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0007&SUBSYS_10141102
;; Rocketfish 5.1
%CTAudio_Device5.Dev.ntx86%=CTAudio_Device5,PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0007&SUBSYS_10011102

[Creative.NTAMD64.6]
;;Rocketfish 7.1
%CTAudio_Device1.Dev.amd64%=CTAudio_Device1,PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0007&SUBSYS_10141102
;; Rocketfish 5.1
%CTAudio_Device5.Dev.amd64%=CTAudio_Device5,PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0007&SUBSYS_10011102

then try again. May have to try installing manually through Device Manager,

stormy, first off, nice pooch :D. Second, thanks for the tip, I saw something similar on another forum but was not sure about trying a driver from another manufacturer. I give this a shot and let you know how it goes.

I had the same issues. I went into device manager and it was still showing sound blaster so I deleted the sound blaster driver.

Then I installed the downloaded drivers from rocketfish(by creative labs) and only installed the drivers and none of the software.

Kind of made me mad that my more expensive and higher quality soundblaster wasn't compatible with win7 yet this cheap this is.

I'd read on a couple other forums NEVER use the CD unless you enjoy crashes, only download from the site and only install the drivers not the software.

Worked for me

Sorry Stormy & all, I forgot to chime in. The Creative Labs drivers worked great! This after trying everything off the CD, only the drivers off the CD, and the drivers from the Rocketfish webiste all gave me the BSOD.

The Creative labs drivers were a challenge to install, and at first I thought they were not going to work, but after a few Win7 orchestrated reboots, I have sound!

Thanks again Stormy, I'll leave a bisquit for your pooch!

My rocketfish 5.1 works fine with windows 7. except for the fact that i get a giant latency problem when i try to monitor the input of a microphone or gutiar. I wish asio4all would work like it did with xp, but saddly it does not, any ideas on this matter would be be greatly welcome.
