Greetings,

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise, 32bit, on a Lenovo SL410 laptop with 2GB of RAM. I have this for a processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6570 @ 2.10GHz, 2101 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s). I have this as a graphics card: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family. I'm not sure what else, if anything, I am supposed to list...

I have Windows XP compatability mode, but I try to install RTW, it stops midway through and gives an error:

Feature: Rome Total War data
Component: Data
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

The file it stalls on is C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\data\pack\ui_0.pak

Can anyone tell me how to get it to install? Many thanks!

It may be a defective disc. Try checking it for fingerprints, scratches etc.

You may also try installing the game to a custom diirectory, other than Program Files.

Well, I wiped off the things that were on the disc, and I think there is only one scratch on it... could anything else be wrong? Or is there a place online where I can download the setup and then use the discs I have to play it?

Thanks for your help in advance :)

Hi Ed17,

I would suggest you Google the game to see if anyone has got it working under Windows 7 and see what they did to get it to work.

Please be aware that a lot of older games have problems running on the newer operating systems like Vista and Windows 7. Rome Total War was released in 2004 - Rome: Total War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Again do a Google search and see whats out there for the game and Windows 7.

Edit: According to this it's comaptible for Windows 7 32-bit - Windows 7 Compatibility for Rome Total War version 1: Avanquest. Drivers, Updates, Downloads click 32-bit tab.

With that said, it could be an issue with the video card on your laptop as its not exactly a gaming card.

See system requirements in here - Rome:Total War : Forge an empire and conquier the world !

Good luck.
