Recently I used a camcorder upside down and afterwards tried to rotate 180 degrees, which was OK, however it doesn't save as the original format (MPEG-2)but converted it to AVI, which is rubbish on a large screen.

Anyone any ideas if its possible to retain original format, after rotation, and any software that will accomplish this.

Its hopeless try to convert back from AVI, it can't recover the MPEG-2 quality.

Hmmm, don't use the camcorder upside down? XD
I have no idea, never needed something like that... But ffdshow has the option of flipping the video upside down within it's Video Renderer.

Your video is rotated 180 degree , but in avi format?

You may try ConvertX to DVD (AVI to DVD Video Converter Software VSO ConvertXtoDVD Download now) to get mpeg2 back, it improves quality. Your quality loss will be negligible, but still a loss is a loss.
