Router keeps forgetting wireless password...

I have a Netgear Router: WGR614 v7 that I've owned and used for about three years now. I've never had a problem with the wireless connection until I installed Windows 7. Not sure if that is culprit or not, but just sayin.

Now for some odd reason it will not remember my wireless password. It will go a few days, a week or so then any device in my house that normally connects to the router via a wireless connection will not connect. It will say the password is wrong.

After going in and reseting the wireless password in the router setup (using the same password), it will suddenly start working again. I've resbooted the router several times, it's got the latest firmware etc.

This is really annoying when my wife is trying to use the laptop and it won't connect.

any ideas?

Be sure and save settings and "log out" of the router control page after setting the password.

I tried this. It did not help but thanks.

The router will remember the password when I reset it and my laptop/iphones etc. will connect immediately, but after a few days of use nothing will connect wireless until I go in and reset the Wireless password again.

Again, I think this all started when I installed Windows 7.

anyone else experience this issue?

Thanks!

I would reset the router, and see if the problem still persists. What type of security and encryption will you be using?

Oh yea, I've tried that.

Reset several times but not the trick.

for Ecnryption, I've used WPA-PSK for years with no problem. Last night I changed it to WPA2-PSK and it didn't change anything. Same problem today with wireless login (although worked like a champ for hours last night)

For security, I don't have an antivrus installed yet. Windows Firewall is active.

This has been ongoing for about 5 or 6 weeks now btw.

At this point you will definately want to try updating the firmware on the router. That is the only fix I could find for this type of log in problem.

You can download the latest firmware for your router in the link below. :)

It can't be windows 7.

You said it happens on your iphone as well. If it was on the machine with win 7 installed alone,, then that would of been different.

Your router has failed. Get a new one.

The router isn't a pc, so what you can do is what you see on it. If udating firmware, and all your settings are good but it still has issues, time for a trip to your local computer i would think.
