I've tried each and every firmware upgrade and all sorts. From just powering off to full factory resets. Maybe the SPI firewall is a bit too sensitive on this version for me to run my apache and game servers or something.
It does get hammered quite a bit in all honesty.

I've known the v6 or v7 to drop connectivity altogether but not just port forwarding issues.

It appears to forget random forwarding settings in the table. I'll go to redo the settings and sometimes it says it will cause conflicts with one I've already set and sometimes it accepts the same settings I've already put there.

D-Link DIR-655. I've had it about 6 months. Really like it except can't get Shareport to work in Windows 7. Other than that, it is extremely fast, range is excellent, port forwarding is easy for SlingBox and other unmentionables....

Well my neighbor uses a Linksys WRT54GS Router, since I use his internet I suppose I have the right to vote.

Prefer d-link over linksys though. >.>

I use Linksys. I have had really good luck with them.

I have tried Belkin, Netgear, D-Link and all of them gave me some problems (not all at my house tho).

I use to work at Best Buy and we sold the most of Linksys because everyone knew the name and since I had good luck with them I would recommend them. It's a personal preference in my opinion. Sometimes you just get a bad one and that will discourage people from getting them again....

Linksys is my choice

I use Linksys WRT160N. Router Works great, although I had some problems with initial setup. I contacted Linksys customer support and spoke with the rudest tech person I have ever delt with. Ended up solving the problem myself. Router works great but Linksys customer support

plain old belkin 7633-4 - much better than my old 7632.

does the job, was cheap and has a tendency to get hot.

also i have to disable my software av to get to router settings page under win 7. :huh:

You would still get benefit from having a router even though you only have one computer, it would act as a barrier between your machine and the Internet especially if it was a NAT enabled one.
