Hi

Work for local gov and in XP run explorer as separate so we can run it with our admin account. However, we are currently migrating to a new domain. Seems to be no trust relationship at moment with the new and old domain.

So one of the engineers is running Windows 7 and has been migrated to the new domain. Wants to get to some of the network drives that are on the old domain. Can't at moment it appears. So we were going to try running explorer as a separate instance, using his admin account that is on the old domain. However, it would appear, it's not possible to runas explorer as separate on Windows 7 anymore.

Why this feature was removed is anyones guess.

Anyone have a work around?

Thanks

You can also click the middle mouse button/wheel and it will open a seperate instance of any app pinned to the taskbar.

Thanks. Will give it a try. But will this open it as a new user? So I'm logged in with my normal account in explorer. I then want to run a seprate instance but with my admin account so that I can go to the network shares that my admin account has permissions too but my normal account doesn't?

If you do not have a middle mouse button or wheel, you can ususally go to your mouse settings in control panel and set it where pressing the left and right buttons at the some time is treated as a middle click.
