RUN Command

Hi

I have enabled the RUN command on my start menu but for some reason it doesn't seem to remember any of my previously entered commands.

When I had XP I could go to the RUN command and use the down arrow key to select previously entered commands e.g regedit or calc.

Does anyone know why this isn't working or how I can get it to work?

My OS is Windows 7 Professional x64

Right click on Start button > Properties > Tick store and display recently opened programs in the start menu.

Look in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer and make sure ClearRecentDocsOnExit is set to 0.

Are you using CCleaner or some other cleanup program,.

If it's CCleaner,. you can uncheck that box.

Thanks for all the suggestions I will try them out when I get home from work.

I have a feeling though I have done all this already and the registry entry

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies\Explorer

doesn't exist in my registry as I think I looked here yesterday.

I will report back once I have double checked though

I think it kind of has too. You probably just missed it.

The policies key does not exist in everyone's registry. It must be created manually

Seriously? I did not know that. In that case, just create a new 32-bit Dword named ClearRecentDocsOnExit and set the value to 0. Although I do not know if it will work, if the problem exists when the key is not there.

Hi

I have just logged on to my home PC from work and checked the registry. I can get as far as this

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Policies

but I can go no further. There is no explorer or for that matter any other folder beyond this point.

However I have done the following

Right click on Start button > Properties > Tick store and display recently opened programs in the start menu.

and this has solved the problem
