The message is:
PHP:
Error in c:\windows\netframe.dll
Missing entry: run

I had some Trojan problems but I think I managed to get that all cleaned up.
Googling came up with nothing regarding netframe.dll.

What should I do next? Delete it?

Hi and welcome to SF jockie
I'm not sure either what it is? wondering if it is a component of .NET framework? have you ever tried to change the name of that file "netframe.dll" to see if any more errors appear?

Try the following:

1) In MSCONFIG, click on Startup tab, then scrutinize the entries. Disable anything that may seem connected to the problem.

2) Download and run CCleaner, do both a regular cleanup as well as a registry cleanup.

3) If the above 2 steps dont solve the problem , try reinstalling the .NET framework.

Thanks for the welcome ttran.
I haven't tried to change the name of the file, should I? I'm kind of rather cautious to mess around in my windows folder without knowing what I'm doing. Could you explain a little further please?

Many thanks for the tips Bill2.
There is only one entry under the Startup tab that I am suspicious of:
JMB36X IDE Setup
...but it seems to be a RAID driver (after googling).

I've a different registry cleaner and along with Spybot I've done a pretty thorough clean.

Perhaps I'll try reinstalling .NET framework. I'll probably wait for a little while first though to see what other tips come up on this thread.

Not really sure how to reinstall the .NET framework.
There isn't very much information about how to do it online. I downloaded .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 from Microsoft but I am not sure that running it is working, or even if I should be doing that.

Could you help please?

JOckie,

1) Try this. Navigate to C:\windows and locate the file netframe.dll (if it exists). Back it up to an external location (like a usb drive), then delete it from your hard drive. Then reboot and see if the error still occurs.

2) Check in your startup folder, what shortcuts are placed.

3) Check the entries in the following 2 keys in regedit.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run(Once)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run(Once)

- netframe.dll wouldn't delete but I was able to change the name.
- not sure where the startup folder is.
- both Runonce are present

After restart the error message has not appeared.
I'm pleased that it seems to be a fix BUT I would really appreciate some insight into what happened:
Why has this solved the problem?
Do I not need that file?
Why was it there in the first place?
Was it not integral to the .NET framework?

Many thanks.

I guess that It can be malware, since googling doesn't show any close result, that's why I doubted whether or not it was part of .Net framework.

It's nice that the startup nolonger show up that error
please update if anything wrong happend

I have the latest Net.Framework installed and I can tell you it's not part of that software. My guess is it's left over from the Trojan you had cleaned out. Run a Registry search and see where it was being referenced.
