Hello,
This issue has been ongoing for a long time. And I got a rundll32.exe virus yesterday and took it to "PC World" and got it removed, but still the actual rundll32 is faulty and doesn't work properly. I've tried an sfc /scannow and tried repairing the file, but it gives me the message that it cannot be repaired:

Please could someone possibly help me to repairing this file without having to completely restore my computer!?
I've chatted with an Answer Tech before but he wanted me to pay him to do a remote session where he would rebuild the files, but I simply cannot afford to do this.

You could try booting from the installation disks and doing a boot repair. If you have had Windows Backup, Acronis, or any other backup, ever, you might try right-clicking on the file and opening properties, and see if you can find a previous version.

You might also try the latest malicious software removal tool; I would have to ask how to access it.

Thanks for your reply, but I don't have the windows CD as my laptop came with Windows Pre-Installed. I was thinking of doing a restore to an earlier date, but I have programs such as Cubase that are licensed to my PC and if I was to install them again i'm not sure the code would work again, as restoring to an earlier date would mean wiping these programs

If your copy of windows will write a bootable Rescue DVD, you might try that. If it goes to Windows Update for bad files, it might work.
