Running a Minecraft server, DNS, Domain, IP, Forwarding...

Yeah, so I want to host a Minecraft server, I also own a domain at one.com.
Just a couple of questions; Can I use the DNS (or something else) on my domain to somehow make players able to connect to for example "mc.mydomain.com" instead of having to write my IP?
Or Can I host the server on my domain?
Anything else? Or should I port forward something?

EDIT: Hopefully this fits in the gaming category (Minecraft)... Could fit in some other categories aswell!

Are you planning to mount the server on your home on your normal PC or have a external hosting plan somewhere? The setups for both are somewhat different.

BTW, I guess this goes more into the network subforum
The technical part is really almost the same as building a FTP or web server, save for the gaming specifics.

Yeah, I agree (subforum thing).
I'm planning to host the server on my computer (just me and my friends playing).

Then forward the ports to the host computer (I think the port is 25565) then use that domain of yours, all the domain is doing is redirecting you to that IP, also im a fellow MC player so if you need any players, call me up
