Hello,

I m running win7 ultimate x64 on 6 pcs. All connected with cat6 cable to Gigabit Ethernet 8 port switch.
Most of the PC have Realtek® 8111F, 1 x Gigabit LAN Controller on board (1 or 2 have intel pro giga)

Now question is what settings should i make so that my all pcs can use full available bandwidth/data speed ?

(lan card properties have many settings in advanced tab such as ..packet size, link speed, buffer etc.)

best wishes

I would leave them all to default.
There set to optimize the best speed it can, given, the type of cable, switch being used.
Leave the duplex setting to Auto Negotiate. As the LAN card will then determine the best speed for the Card.
Try copying something across the lan to see what speed your getting.
What speeds are you expecting?.

i never have used gigabit before so i m very new to this standard... so its very unfortunate for me to expect some speed... (what are they btw..? on 100 mbps network, i have never seen my copying reach that much speed :( )

Theres allot more to it then just the Network its self.

When copying a file from differnet computers on the same Local Network, Its not just about network speed. Not many hard drives have 400MBPS read/write speed. unless there all running decent SSD's.
If your hard Drive can only READ @ 80MBPS then you can't expect it to copy @ 80+ MBPS

I have a client that used to be on 100MBPS network, 50 users. We changed to a Gigabit network,
New switches, And a Firewall to control that LAN that was 1Gigabit too.

They never saw a massive increase in speed, however, Its allot more usable and stable with the amount of users they have and they can copy more files at once.

Hope this makes sence?
