runtime error when opening sound meter software

Hi

Dont know if this is a simple problem to sort or not.

I have a sony vaio lap top and i have just purchased a sound level meter with data logging, i have installed the most current software for this product for windows 7 but when i try to open it the error
this application has requested the run time to terminate in an unusual way.
I have loaded this onto another windows 7 system and works fine also the suppliers had loaded the same software on thier system and work.
i have tried a clean boot and still comes up with same error but if i boot in safe mode the software will open.

Any ideas?

I have just tried a sfc/verify only and it came up with violations found
Than ran scan now but wont go passed 58% windows resource protection could not perform request could
this be my problem????
