I am in a very unussual situation.

When I start my Laptop for a safe mode I hold the F8 key as it reboots, it brings me to the Choice screen. With an arrow Key, I direct it to SAFE MODE
hit the enter key and neccessary drivers list is displayed in black, no problems. Then it goes straight to discovery mode, runs the diagnostics and asks me to recover, instead of SAFE MODE so that I can work on Uninstall graphic adapter and install one that supports WIN 7, instead of Standard VGA Graphic Adapter.

If anyone knows any otherway of doing this without having to go to SAFE MODE Please advice...:cry: I am out of witts now.

Code:
1) downloading latest drivers (v14.19.50) for XP from Intel's site and extracting them to a separate folder
2) booting W7 in the safe mode
3) Device Manager -> Video Adapter (VGA compatible) -> Properties
4) Driver -> Update driver -> Browse -> Let me pick -> Display adapters -> Have disk -> give path to "win2000" folder of the extracted driver
5) After you get error about driver installation, in Device Manager click on "Scan for new hardware"
6) Boot your W7 in "Disable driver signing enforcement" mode
Please help.

Um several questions.
1- an XP driver for win 7 probably wont work
2-you are booting into safe mode because you cant boot normally, or you cant install the video driver in a normal boot?

we could also use some hardware info about your vfideo card and computer

thanks

Hello: ZIGZAG, Thak you for the reply. Intels Graphic adapters for chipset 855-gme is not supported by win 7 platform, the only way to work around it is to install it manually which, as you do, it shows the file as installed in your device manager, until when you reboot....

I found out why I was crashing the SAFE MODE... My bad I did not include information about RollbackRx.. However now I ma in a deeper doo-doo than I was before. I cant logon, after uninstalling RollbckRX I am getting the "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loeaded" I have tried to delete the SID by following the regedit path, but when I reboot... I am back to square one... YELP

regedit string to follow:
Code:
[/I]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
Under the ProfileList subkey, delete the subkey that is named SID.bak.

Hello, chakubanga and welcome to Windows Seven forums!

First some possible fixes would be "Last known Good Configuration" using the F8. You can use the restore point or do a "Repair Install" after booting to the 7 Install DVD or the "Repair CD" 7 will burn for you.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html

After you have restored access to 7, this thread describes how to use a generic Intel 855 mobile video driver:

http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/41163-graphic-driver-dell-d505.html#post398702

I am using this video driver on my Dell laptop and it may work for you as well.

Cheers!

Hello I C U. Thank you very much to you and ZigZag for all the help. I once again tried this method but for some very freaky reasons, I had the yellow mark on the driver and it kept on installing VGA driver from windows.
I downloaded XP/2000 Pro and it somehow worked, After installing updates and other drivers including the EZ button driver that, without it, you cant turn on the radio.
Now my LAptop has the driver for Intel adapter, quetsion is, does this one support AERO, I can only view small Icon on my taskbar when hovering with mouse on it... Small issue really, just wondering though, because Win 7, without the Aero defies the purpose...

Other than all this.. I thank all who took their time to help... Thank you.

Hello Edgarrr and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sounds like you've got a serious problem to deal with, especially if you can't access the internet or any programs. First thing is you want to try to clean your computer of whatever virus has infected it. To do that you'll probably have to use a second machine to download a rescue CD similar to these:

Kaspersky Rescue Disk 10

AVG - Rescue CD | PC Rescue and Repair Toolkit

Avira AntiVir Rescue System - Download

Follow the instructions for scanning the infected computer. Hopefully that will let you regain access to your files.
